The Artist: Jake Mol
Artist Jake Mol has been living in Aurora since 1982 and every autumn he and his wife, Pauline, host a two week-end Open House Exhibition and Sale of Recent Work at Tamarack Studios. The exhibit includes oils and watercolours painted on location in France, Mexico, the United States, and various locations in Canada.
Jake's family emigrated to Canada from the Netherlands when he was in his late teens with his family. He eventually joined the R.C.M.P. for a time, followed by a 31 year career with the Toronto police force while pursuing his art studies. Jake has two daughters and between Pauline and Jake they have 16 grandchildren.
Both Jake's and Pauline's art careers were well established when they met in the seventies through membership in the East Central Ontario Art Association.
Pauline and Jake are elected members of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour, signature members of the Toronto Watercolour Society and founding members of the Vodka Painters of Canada. As well, they are members of several other Ontario Art Associations and both have won many awards exhibiting with these Groups. Their paintings can be found in many private and corporate collections throughout the world. They are represented by several galleries and have annual exhibits at the Skelton Galleries in Collingwood.
Through the years they have acquired a following as teachers with the Blue Mountain School of Landscape Painting, the Haliburton School of Art, and various Ontario Art groups.
