The Artist:
Jordan Clayton is a Canadian visual artist based in Toronto, working primarily in painting and drawing. His practice explores the boundaries between abstraction and surrealism, creating immersive, imagined environments that blend elements of science and fiction with organic form. His work often focuses on “monumentalizing the unseen” by examining microscopic life, ephemera, and processes of growth that are not always visible to the naked eye (Saatchi Art).
Clayton’s paintings are characterized by layered, atmospheric compositions that feel both familiar and otherworldly. Drawing on influences from contemporary art and speculative narratives, he incorporates themes of queerness and alternative realities into his work. His art has been exhibited internationally and is held in private collections, reflecting a growing presence within emerging contemporary Canadian art.
