The Artist: DIANE LINGENFELTER (Canadian, c.1965 - )

Diane Lingenfelter (often spelled Lingenfelt) is an established Canadian contemporary painter and mixed-media artist based in Toronto, Ontario, who has been exhibiting her work professionally for over 40 years. Best known for her expressive explorations of the human form, her signature style heavily incorporates collage elements, vintage newsprint, and rich textures to ground her figures in a non-linear, evolving process of layered storytelling. After graduating with honors from the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD), where she was awarded the W.O. Forsyth Scholarship for Painting, she developed a philosophy focused on spontaneous gestures and the dynamic interactions born from body poses rather than static portraits. Her unique command of light, stark linework, and complex shading superimposed over vintage text has earned her widespread representation in prominent Toronto venues—such as Arta Gallery and Art Interiors—and placed her artworks into private and commercial collections across Canada, the United States, Europe, and Mexico.
